Back in March of 2017, I requested all invoices sent to the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) from Unicor (aka Federal Prison Industries aka FPI) between January 1, 2016 and March 2017. Unicor is the federal prison work program where workers are paid below minimum wage to manufacture goods that are often purchased by government agencies.
The documents show the thousands of dollars in cheap office furniture and supplies that has been purchased by the DEA. The documents also show emails of outstanding balances for orders to Unicor, as well as other billing information.
The agency informed me that they found 164 pages, 110 pages of which were released in full and 54 pages released in part.
BOP Request No.: 2017-04813
DEA FOI/PA Case No. 17-00467-F
