Typically, when I submit a Freedom of Information Act request to a presidential library I get back at least a few photos that have nothing to do with the person I’m looking for. But my FOIA request to the George W. Bush Library for any photos they had of Donald Trump seemed to be nothing but irrelevant photos at first glance. Based on the contact sheet that I was sent, it looked like none of the photos I received contained President Trump at all. Until I looked closer.
Can you spot Donald Trump in this photo?
I couldn’t either at first. Maybe a big red arrow will help.
Yep, that’s him.
The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum processed 12 photos for FOIA request 2017-0131-F. They’re all reproduced here in low resolution. High-resolution images can be ordered directly from the GW Bush Library for a fee. Just make sure you tell them the photos are from FOIA number 2017-0131-F so that the archivists can find them.
The description from the National Archives:
This FOIA primarily contains photographs of President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush in box seating with George Steinbrenner, watching Game Three of the World Series at Yankee Stadium on October 30, 2001. Donald Trump is seen in the adjacent box seating. Also pictured are George Tenet, Andy Card, Condoleezza Rice and Ms. Barbara Bush
Interestingly, this was less than two months after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
All photos are in the public domain and can be used without further permission. They should be credited to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum.
